Wisconsin’s state biennial budget could reprioritize the allocation of funding to public education. It is expected that less general aid will be allocated this year than in 2010.
The Summer Food Service Program provides nutritious meals to children during the summer when free and reduced-price school meals are typically unavailable. The Summer Food Service Program is funded by the US Department of Agriculture and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The following locations will be serving free meails this summer: Spooner Elementary School June 15th - June 25th, Monday - Thursday Breakfast will be served 7:30am - 8:00 am Lunch will be served 10:45am - 11:45am Spooner High School August 3rd - August 14th, Monday - Friday Lunch will be served 12:00pm - 12:30pm

Students throughout Wisconsin are in the midst of testing to a newly created state educational measurement called The Badger 3-8. This new test replaces the once-yearly standardized tests formerly known as the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam (WKCE), used statewide to evaluate school achievement in the areas of math, language arts, science and social studies. Students who score as “proficient” on these standardized tests are deemed to be performing at or above their respective grade level.
